The Cyprus Association of Librarians – Information Scientists (CALIS), the University of Nicosia Library and CARDET co-organised on 2 November 2022 a conference entitled: “New Trends in Library Services : Proposals for the Implementation of Innovative Practices”.
Modern libraries are knowledge management centres that not only provide access to collections of books and journals, but also collect, manage and disseminate information and knowledge, supporting open science. At the same time, they are tasked with training users in a wide range of modern skills that go far beyond the boundaries of traditional bibliographic training. Technological developments also require libraries to move beyond their traditional role and exploit the new possibilities offered to them, in order to become modern and essential pillars of research, education and knowledge. Moreover, libraries are now meeting places and exchanges of views, encouraging dialogue and respect for diversity.
The conference also featured a presentation of the AdultDigitalUp project, which focused on strengthening the digital literacy of librarians.
