Increasing EU’s skills capacity

Skills are key to employability and prosperity, as with the rights skills, we find ourselves equipped for good-quality jobs and prepared for a highly competitive and high-performing world of work. Skills drive innovation, competitiveness and push society to become better.

However, Europe is still facing skills gaps and lack of basic skills, such as adequate reading and writing, as well as numeracy and digital skills, putting Europeans at risk of poverty, unemployment and social exclusion.

The EU has developed a range of policies and initiatives to increase digital skills in both the workforce and consumers. EU is investing in programs to train Europeans and expand the talent pool in Europe so we can be confident in our future in the digital world. One great example of the decisiveness of the EU in tackling the aforementioned challenges, is the European Skills Agenda.
